The Rush

“Whose idea was it to jump the gun?” I will most definitely ask them one day. 4/29/2021 would have been the biological due date, 3/30 was set for C-section to mitigate the triple whammy of over-40, low-lying placenta, and twin-pregnancy. On 3/26 at 3pm, the prego lady broke water while in the bathroom. Panic also broke out and it was helter skelter among 3 adults and a golden retriever. Stopping Cody from his keen interest in bloody liquid on the floor was not part of prep training. EMT came and took mommy away onto the ambulance. Traffic, lights, pedestrians are no object. It happened so fast it is now a blur.

Cinnamon Bun

Cinnamon bun. That was what prego lady wanted so that was what she got from 69 Living Cafe in Beitou. Alas, who knew half a roll and barely an hour later, it would be the cause of mighty angst. After checking into the ER, then into the maternity ward, doc decided Sandy had to wait a whole 5 hours to clear out her tummy. You don’t want to risk choking on food matters during anesthesia. Doc put the little heartbeats on ultrasound, and staff (and mommy) were on standby in case a weakening heartbeat triggers immediate Caesarean. The windowless waiting room was cold, silent, and reminds of countless pre-birth waits. 9:20PM came and away she was wheeled.
